How has technology changed the way we teach health and p.e.?
There seem to be several ways to integrate technology into education in today's society. Physical education is no different. With the ever growing obesity epidemic physical educators accross America are looking for efficient ways to teach about healthy living and active lifestyles. My question to fellow physical educators is simple; what are you doing to create an effective learning enironment for students in the physical setting?

One of the first things that I noticed in my school district that truely seemed like a way to get students active while relating to their lifestyles. Dance Dance Revolution is a video game played on the ps2 game console. Several of these games were purchased a few years ago and used in my school district as a new and different way to get students moving. At first it seemed strange to be incorporating video games in physical education, since most p.e. teachers are not huge fans of video games and the couch potatoe syndrome that they create. After seeing what the game was I realized that it probably was a good idea to use what the students knew and liked as a tool to teach about physical activity.
ReplyDeleteUsing digital cameras and videos a cameras in physical education is one way I try to incorporate technology. I have my students replay and analyze their performances of particular skills. This self-analysis is more beneficial to students because they are actively involve the both the performance and the feedback. I have also used video as an instructional aide to show student’s proper technique and form for certain activities.
